“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere.”

My practice explores concepts of the cosmic sublime. I apply layers of paint over weeks or months. Colour washes, brushwork, paint pouring, splattering and spraying are preserved between layers of transparent medium to form a visible record of accumulation. This approach to painting is metaphorically linked with alchemical processes such as transmutation. It mirrors the timeless changes of the universe and makes what is usually unseen visible on the canvas. My video works similarly evoke sublime experiences that point to cosmic events and sensations. For me, painting and video are symbiotic mediums that enhance each other’s ability to bring the invisible into view. They are complemented by clay structures which manifest ideas and feelings through tactile, three-dimensional materiality.
